Blood & Treasure - The Brotherhood of Serapis TV review

“The Brotherhood of Serapis” makes quick work of both Danny (Matt Barr) being trapped in the tomb and Lexi (Sofia Pernas) being kidnapped by a secret cult determined to keep the location of Cleopatra’s tomb a mystery. As Danny is rescued by Jay Reece (John Larroquette), who has become the series De Ex Machina at this point, and his men, Lexi agrees to work with the Brotherhood who want Farouk (Oded Fehr) dead just as much as she does. A couple white lies later and Danny and Lexi are back in action breaking into the Egyptian government and tracking Farouk who has stolen the recovered antiquities in order to pay for the the search for Cleopatra. None of the recurring characters make an appearance here, although Dr. Ana Castillo (Alicia Coppola) abandons the project in a sequence that is either genuine, and just badly scripted, or means she is continuing the job for Farouk.

Blood & Treasure - The Secret of Macho Grande TV review

Danny (Matt Barr) and Lexi (Sofia Pernas) head to Germany in search of the castle where the Nazis hid Cleopatra’s sarcophagus during WWII. Although they have found the latest clue before Farouk (Oded Fehr), his men are close behind. “The Secret of Macho Grande” plays up the clues and secret tombs and our intrepid explorer and his ex-girlfriend thief discover hidden code by a a secret society pointing them to yet another location on their treasure hunt. The episode is notable for Lexi coming face-to-face with the man responsible for her father’s death and Danny getting trapped in the tomb as the enemy absconds with his ex. Given what we’ve seen so far, I’m betting neither will be much of an obstacle for too long. Flashbacks bring back James Callis as antiquities dealer Simon Hardwick, suggesting he’s more involved in the web of Cleopatra, Farouk, Danny, and Lexi than his initial appearance suggested.

Blood & Treasure - Code of the Hawaladar TV review

As Farouk (Oded Fehr) searches for Cleopatra’s tomb, Danny (Matt Barr) and Lexi (Sofia Pernas) continue searching for Farouk. Believing tracing the money Shaw (Michael James Shaw) was to be paid to be their best lead, Danny takes the arms dealer’s place. Sadly, things don’t go according to plan when Danny is recognized as a former agent of the FBI. Thankfully, Danny has better bargaining methods than the local police in getting the information they need as the series continues to showcase him as the white knight compared to Lexi’s more gray leanings. The episode also builds in a little more time for Father Chuck (Mark Gagliardi) who is able to offer separate assistance to both Lexi and Danny and also sees another casualty when Asim (Patrick Sabongui) is killed on the raid of Farouk’s safe house.
