Bob’s Burgers – Heist Things Are Heist

In an episode that doesn’t include a single scene taking place within the restaurant (other than a montage flashback of ranting), the family heads across the bay to a small island for an award ceremony after the restaurant wins for “best dive.” Uncharacteristically cheery, at least initially, Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) crashes back to Earth after realizing he doesn’t get to keep the award, which is just a prop for the publicity photos, and is asked to shell out $200 for his own. Inspired by a sighting of Vincent (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), the kids decide to steal the trophy for Bob.

Bob’s Burgers – The Dead Bo-ats Society

“The Dead Bo-ats Society” offers a Saturday morning adventure for Tina (Dan Mintz), Louise (Kristen Schaal), and Gene (Eugene Mirman) who explore a boat in a scrap yard out of town only to become trapped when the owner leaves and releases his guard dog. With time becoming an increasingly important factor, due to the bet they made with their parents that they would be back by 11, the trio end up having exactly the kind of crazy adventure they were waxing poetically about just that morning (albeit a more chaotic and dangerous one than they had planned).

Bob’s Burgers – Don’t Worry, Be Hoopy

After a surprising showing in the school’s free-throw contest, Tina (Dan Mintz) begins to feel the pressure of performing in the County Finals in front of a crowd. While exploring Tina’s anxiety, “Don’t Worry, Be Hoopy” also explores the anxiety of both Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) and Linda (John Roberts) who both give their daughter some questionable advice blaming themselves when Tina is late to show up for the contest (unaware she was so freaked out already she barely paid either of them any mind). While I think the episode may have missed an opportunity to work Louise (Kristen Schaal) and Gene (Eugene Mirman) into a vignette (possibly related to betting on Tina’s performance), the episode offers a nice moral for Tina in overcoming her fears and also reminding us that parents do their best but ultimately its the kid who has to eventually stand up on their own.

Bob’s Burgers – The Shell Game

An invitation by Mr. Fischoeder (Kevin Kline) to his tortoise‘s birthday party puts Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) in the strange situation of competing against the other guests for guardianship of the animal should anything befall the host. Louise (Kristen Schaal), Gene (Eugene Mirman), and Tina (Dan Mintz) are far more into the idea of having a tortoise than their father (even going so far as to help cheat to make Bob believe the animal likes him), but eventually the most obvious suitor is the correct one. Memorable moments involve the various competitions shown, and alluded to, and both Bob’s joy, when he believes he’s made a connection to the animal, and despair, after realizing the truth.

Bob’s Burgers – The Lost City of Atlantic

Sometimes the craziest episodes are the most fun. And the Belchers do indeed have a crazy time at Atlantic City when attempting to cash in some chips at a casino left for Linda (John Roberts) by her grandfather (who once worked there). While Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) gets a bit lost at the casino buffet falling in love with the all-you-can-eat prime rib, and the kids, after finding a quarter, struggle with finding a way to get past a security guard in order to gamble, Linda gets the shock of her life.
