Phineas and Ferb – Deconstructing Doof

Starting out by introducing that both Candace (Ashley Tisdale) and Doofenshmirtz (Dan Povenmire) are patients of the same psychologist,, “Deconstructing Doof” has some fun with the premise as the doctor comes to see a pattern in both patients’ delusions and uncovers a connection to a truth that he will share with the world. Sadly for Dr. Mosley Shamai (Brendan Hunt), his attempts at proving the truth fair no better than that of Candice as Doofenshmirtz’s latest invention, with the help of Perry, erases all proof just seconds before his big presentation. Highlights of the episode include the patients’ duet of “No One Understands Me,” Phineas (Vincent Martella) and Ferb‘s (David Errigo Jr.) giant disco blimp (which goes unnoticed by hundreds of people), and the good doctor’s nervous breakdown on stage (which oddly comforts Candice).

An invitation by Mr. Fischoeder (Kevin Kline) to his tortoise‘s birthday party puts Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) in the strange situation of competing against the other guests for guardianship of the animal should anything befall the host. Louise (Kristen Schaal), Gene (Eugene Mirman), and Tina (Dan Mintz) are far more into the idea of having a tortoise than their father (even going so far as to help cheat to make Bob believe the animal likes him), but eventually the most obvious suitor is the correct one. Memorable moments involve the various competitions shown, and alluded to, and both Bob’s joy, when he believes he’s made a connection to the animal, and despair, after realizing the truth.

Phineas and Ferb – Dry Another Day

  • Title: Phineas and Ferb – Dry Another Day

Attempting to beat the heat, Phineas (Vincent Martella) and Ferb (David Errigo Jr.) build a giant ice luge wheel which they roll around town with Isabella (Alyson Stoner), Baljeet (Maulik Pancholy), and Buford (Bobby Gaylor) which not only cools them off but leaves a cool breeze for all who pass. Of course Candace (Ashley Tisdale) attempts to catch them but, as always, is a step too slow (although she does earn a momentary second of fame skiing after the boys). The Doofenshmirtz (Dan Povenmire) plot, involving the villain attempting to dump his oil in a water park, isn’t a strong, and somehow makes even less sense than usual, but the two stories do eventually collide at the water park.

Heads of State

  • Title: Heads of State
  • IMDb: link

Heads of State is a particularly dumb action-comedy starring John Cena and Idris Elba as the President of the United States and the Prime Minister of Britain who must put their mutual animosity aside when a terrorist organization attempts to kill them as part of a larger conspiracy to destroy NATO. We also get Priyanka Chopra Jonas as a MI6 officer, and former flame to the British Prime Minister, who eventually teams up with the pair in an attempt to get both of them to Italy alive. The most interesting moment of the entire film comes in the form of a montage flashback sequence explaining how she caught up with them which, from the looks of it, would have made a far better film than the one we got.
