Wayback Wednesday takes us back to the year 2000 and Sandra Bullock starring role as FBI Agent Gracie Hart who goes undercover at the Miss United States Beauty Pageant to prevent a terrorist attack. The joke of the film is that the gruff feminist is far from a dream contest. Enter coach Victor Melling (Michael Caine), and his team, who helps Gracie fake it until she makes it (including the obligatory makeover montage) while the experience, and the friendship she makes along the way while searching for a terrorist, change Gracie’s opinions on pageants and those who enter them.

Bob’s Burgers – Snackface

While Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) and Linda (John Roberts) deal with a computer issue which provides some enjoyment bringing back the kind of strip mall one-man computer repair shop that you don’t see much of anymore, the bulk of “Snackface” follows Louise (Kristen Schaal), Gene (Eugene Mirman), and Tina (Dan Mintz) creating the new ultimate snack they sell at school. It’s a fun take on the crazy things kids will eat (and also attempt to get away with under the noses of adults) with a twist involving the obsessed Millie (Molly Shannon) joining the team, although not for the reasons the Belchers expect.

You know going into a Wes Anderson film it will look great, and in that aspect The Phoenician Scheme doesn’t disappoint. Incredibly designed sets and styles match a wacky tale of a businessman Zsa-zsa Korda (Benicio Del Toro) who is of note for two reasons. First, under attack from a shadowy group (which may or may not be tied to the government?) crippling his business by inflating the cost of materials vital to the job’s completion, Korda is attempting to salvage the biggest deal of his career. And second, everyone wants him dead, so much so that unexpected plane crashes due to bombs smuggled onboard his plane are a common occurrence.

Returning to theaters for the film’s 25th anniversary, writer/director Kevin Smith‘s Dogma stars Linda Fiorentino as an apathetic Catholic who is chosen by the angel Metatron (Alan Rickman) to prevent two angels from entering a church in New Jersey which, because of a little known loophole in Catholic dogma, would put all of reality at risk. All of this is actually the plan of the demon Azrael (Jason Lee) who has put these events in motion as he would rather destroy reality than return to Hell.

Bob’s Burgers – Like a Candle in the Gym

Linda‘s (John Roberts) insistence of a family walk does go exactly as planned in “Like a Candle in the Gym” when Louise (Kristen Schaal), Gene (Eugene Mirman), and Tina (Dan Mintz) get distracted by Fifth Grade Megan (Abbi Jacobson) whose latest obsession with a teacher was caused by an off-hand joke Louise made at school. The trio spend most of the episode attempting to convince Megan that Coach Blevins (Larry Murphy) isn’t collecting sweat for nefarious purposes and then not to upload her “proof” to the Internet. Meanwhile, Linda’s new walking shoes (the true cause of the family walk) destroy her feet to the point Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) eventually begins to wheel her around in a shopping cart.
