Cancelled because it was too smart, funny, and interesting compared to the rest of NBC’s current line-up, one of the remaining unaired episodes of Powerless hit he Internet this weekend. Featuring Adam West (who previously provided the narration for the show’s pilot episode) in a guest-role as Wayne Enterprises Chairman West, the episode marks one of the actor’s last appearances before his death. While the circumstances for the episode finally seeing the light of day are unfortunate, the episode is one of the show’s best and gives us glimpse at where the show could have gone in further exploring the DCU had it not been cancelled.

Baywatch movie review

Based on the 90s television show not good enough for network television which earned a following in syndication by providing soap opera style plots that often had little to do with the characters’ actual jobs of lifeguards, comes a new feature film version of the franchise. Dumb, almost entirely forgettable (I can’t name a single plot from the show either), and mostly an excuse to put beautiful people in swimsuits and have then run around on-camera, the movie is exactly what you’d expect.

With a generic script which could have been easily adapted from any number of other properties, the set-up is fairly simple. Former Olympic swimmer turned failed human being Matt Brody (a ripped Zac Efron) arrives on the beach as one of the lifeguards’ new recruits. The others include the underdeveloped Summer Quinn (Alexandra Daddario) and the goofy comic relief Ronnie Greenbaum (Jon Bass). While Brody immediately clashes with the lifeguard leader Mitch Buchannon (Dwayne “It’s Okay to Call Me The Rock Again” Johnson), Ronnie is given his own subplot involving his attraction to the beautiful C.J. (Kelly Rohrbach).

Brewster's Millions Blu-ray reviewThe 1985 comedy stars Richard Pryor as a struggling minor league baseball player who comes into a small fortune. However, there is one catch. To earn the entire estate Montgomery Brewster (Pryor) must spend $30 million within 30 days to inherit $300 million. He must not accumulate any assets, and he is also barred from telling anyone the truth about his increasingly odd behavior.

While director Walter Hill‘s film may never be quite as funny as it should be, Brewster’s Millions does deliver some wacky hijinx with Monty’s spending sprees, his interactions with his teammates and best friend (an underutilized John Candy), and the various forces working against him. Lonette McKee also stars as his accountant/love interest.

Sometimes we all need to vent. Not making it out of the Wayne Securities offices in time for the company retreat Emily (Vanessa Hudgens) spent weeks planning, her team gets locked in the building during Dr. Psycho’s gas attack. Emily’s attempts to make the best out of a bad situation lead her into getting dosed with the gas which makes the normally conscientious co-worker brutal in her honesty to her teammates who, if they wish to save her, will have to make the ultimate sacrifice… by singing Kelly Clarkson karaoke.

Powerless - Green Furious TV review

Charm City isn’t a great place to be a woman, super-powered or otherwise. Emily (Vanessa Hudgens) makes a new friend after stepping in to save Green Fury (Natalie Morales) from the tabloid media (who only want to discuss her recent break-up with another super-hero). When she butts up against her own glass ceiling at her first board meeting, Emily hatches a plan to use Green Fury’s celebrity to solve both of their problems by rebranding her as a strong hero and the star of Wayne Securities new ad campaign. Of course, things don’t exactly go to plan.
