Community - Alternative History of the German Invasion

After missing their chance to register for The History of Ice Cream the Study Group begins their European History class with the annoying Foosball-obsessed Germans (Chris Diamantopoulos, Alex Schemmer, Alex Klein) and taught by Greendale ‘s newest professor (Malcolm McDowell) who was fired from Cambridge after a “little slip-up with a coed,” and who challenges the class to examine history from the view of the vanquished as well as that of the victors. Although Abed (Danny Pudi) makes a friend when he realizes they’re both members of the same MMO guild, tensions rise when the Germans claim a piece of the study room for themselves and refuse to leave.

Based on the comic-horror novel of the same name by Cracked editor David Wong and brought to the screen by writer/director Don Coscarelli, John Dies at the End is a bizarre dark comedic horror film about a powerful hallucinogenic drug known as Soy Sauce, parallel universes, time travel, the heroic nature of dogs, and an alien invasion that threatens all life on the planet Earth.

We’re introduced to our main character, David Wong (Chase Williamson), as he tells his unbelievable story to reporter Arnie Bloodstone (Paul Giamatti). Through long flashbacks we see the events that have led David to a Chinese restaurant to unburden his soul. Of course by the time we meet David he’s already addicted and high on Soy Sauce, which makes him the definition of an unreliable narrator whose words (and, at times, admitted lies) can only be taken at face value.

The story really begins with David’s best friend John (Rob Mayes) who scores some Soy Sauce off a fake magical Jamaican (Tai Bennett) one night at a party and changes both their lives forever.

In the conclusion to last season’s cliffhanger Henry (Corbin Bernsen) fights for his life in the hospital, and deals with the unwanted affection of Chelsea (Arden Myrin), and a sleep-deprived and destructive Shawn (James Roday), with the help of Gus (Dulé Hill), searches for his father’s old friend Jerry Carp (Max Gail), who shot Henry and left him for dead. After finding a secret room in the man’s house and clues to continue searching, but also being caught in the act of breaking “half his house” by Juliet (Maggie Lawson) and Lassie (Timothy Omundson), Shawn once again promises to leave the case to the SBPD.

While taking elaborate steps to hide the current state of his relationship with Britta (Gillian Jacobs) from Abed (Danny Pudi), and failing, Troy (Donald Glover), Abed, Jeff (Joel McHale), Britta, and Annie (Alison Brie) head out to the InspecTiCon to celebrate the pair’s favorite show: Inspector Spacetime. Troy becomes jealous and suspicious of Abed’s new pen-pal Toby Davies (Chris Tallman), a rabid Inspector Spacetime fan whom he’s never mentioned before, with an unbelievable backstory. Britta counsels Troy to keep the crazy inside and “go all psycho-girlfriend” with Toby, but that’s far easier said than done.
