Starting with all six of the core characters together in prison following the disaster at the carnival, the bickering group comes to a consensus to break out of prison, find the toad, rescue Toya, and prove their innocence. Things don’t go exactly as planned, but despite their mistrust of each other the group is able to work together and take down the monster only to return to the prison and find a new fight in front of them in Owelia (Bennett Abara).

As with A Big Bold Beautiful Journey released earlier this year, Eternity puts a supernatural twist on your basic romcom. After a full life Joan (Elizabeth Olsen) wakes up in a sort of train station for the afterlife one week after her husband Larry (Miles Teller) died. Returned to their ideal ages of themselves, each gets a week to choose a different perfect world in which to spend eternity, although those who can’t decide can choose to stick around the station which is where Joan’s dilemma arrives as her first husband Luke (Callum Turner), who died in the Korean War, has been doing that for 67 years waiting for the love of his life in order for them to wade into eternity together.

Coming out of Critical Role, and with more than a passing resemblance to The Legend of Vox Machina (and taking place in that same world), the opening episode of The Mighty Nein begins bringing together a part of mismatched adventurers who will be called upon to save the world. The show kicks off with the theft of a religious artifact by magician assassins known as Volstrucker which raises the already tensions between the Dwendalian Empire and the Kryn Dynasty to the brink of war.

Wicked: For Good

Presenting the second-half of the Broadway musical Wicked as its own movie, I’ll admit enjoying Wicked: For Good slightly more than Wicked: Part I. Tension is already set at the beginning of the film as time has past since Elphaba Thropp’s (Cynthia Erivo) decision to stand against the Wizard of Oz (Jeff Goldblum). And, honestly, things are not going all that great for the most powerful witch in Oz. The Wizard’s soldiers are hunting her with his propaganda machine in full gear painting Elphaba as the cause for all evil. And the animals which Elphaba wishes to save, those who aren’t being caged, are fleeing Oz in great numbers unable to trust any humans.
