Lucifer - Somebody's Been Reading Dante's Inferno TV review

As Chloe (Lauren German) and Lucifer (Tom Ellis) investigate murder on a reality-TV series and plan their first date, more of Chloe’s time with Father Kinley (Graham McTavish) is revealed. Having found the detective in Rome, the preacher has enlisted her help to force Lucifer back to Hell. While McKinley speaks only of reestablishing the status quo and preventing the Devil from having any bad influence on the world, the father also secretly hopes to prevent a dark prophecy from coming to pass (never questioning the possibility that his actions may be leading directly into it becoming an reality).

Lucifer - Everything's Okay television review

After disappearing with Trixie (Scarlett Estevez) for a month following the events of the Third Season finale, Chloe (Lauren German) returns apparently having come to terms with her partner’s devilish nature. True to his nature, Lucifer (Tom Ellis) attempts to poke and prod his partner to get to the hidden unresolved issues (which he is at least partially right in recognizing). The gang is all back in the first episode of the show’s move to Netflix and subplots involve Amenadiel‘s (D.B. Woodside) return to Los Angeles, Dan (Kevin Alejandro) still struggling with the loss of Charlotte Richards (Tricia Helfer), and Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) looking for forgiveness from her first human friend.

Red Sonja: Birth of the She-Devil #2

Red Sonja: Birth of the She-Devil #2 comic review

The second issue of Red Sonja: Birth of the She-Devil features Red Sonja performing her duties as a protector of a caravan, including dealing with some unscrupulous (and rather dim-witted) thieves who thought it would be more worth their while to try and cash-in the bounty on Sonja’s head rather than fulfill their contract. I’d say they learned their lesson, but since none of them survived I’m not sure that’s the case.

Red Sonja: Birth of the She-Devil #1

Red Sonja: Birth of the She-Devil #1 comic reviewAlthough still well known for her exploits, the version of Red Sonja we see in Red Sonja: Birth of the She-Devil #1 isn’t quite yet the legend she will become. The story reunites Sonja with Ozzyus in the search for her friend, and Ozzyus’ other pupil, Shashana. Also looming just over the horizon is the demon conqueror Raka as the next challenge in Sonja’s path.

Along with the current storyline, writer Luke Lieberman and artist Sergio Davila offer flashbacks to different moments of Sonja’s past including the first time Ozzyus encountered a young girl with bright red hair.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters

  • Title: Godzilla: King of the Monsters
  • IMDb: link

Godzilla: King of the Monsters movie reviewGodzilla: King of the Monsters is a big dumb action movie, dumb being the operative word. The full title may as well be Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Humans: Dumbest Fucks on the Planet. Even for a horror movie, the motivations and decision making of every single human character, from child to soldier to politician, are stuptifying. Seriously, you begin to wonder how people this dumb don’t drown in the shower or walk directly into traffic. (And some of them are supposed to be scientists?!) In a series that continues to place a large amount of focus on the human storylines adjacent to the creatures, Godzilla: King of the Monsters makes you wonder if the human race is even worth saving.

The movie is also filled with innumerable plotholes, continuity problems, a misunderstanding of distances across the globe and the time to navigate them, timeline problems, and plenty of insane choices from every character presented on screen. The monsters, however, are pretty cool. It’s just a shame that the movie only really works when two or more are battling on-screen (which, sadly, takes place during far less of the film’s running time than it should).
