Green Arrow #29

Green Arrow #29 comic reviewGreen Arrow‘s road trip leads him to Gotham City where the reality of being a spoiled rich boy running away from his troubles is put to good use getting him one-step closer to answers as his investigation into Ninth Circle leads the Emerald Archer into the Court of Owls.

Finding himself in the middle of an Owl hunt, Ollie is able to use the time to his advantage to try and shake some answers from his own prey. The arrival of Batman is expected, as is the clash between the two heroes over Oliver’s recent troubles and motives. Nearly coming to blows, the two heroes do end up working together to save an innocent and, despite not wanting it, Green Arrow is forced to admit Batman offers some sound advice as Ollie will need the help of another Justice Leaguer should his quest continue.

Green Arrow #26

Green Arrow #26 comic reviewFramed for murder by the Ninth Circle, Oliver Queen hits the road to prove his innocence. This leaves Seattle in the capable hands of Ollie’s friends. Taking its name from Dennis O’Neil and Neal Adams’ famous run (minus the social commentary), part one of “Hard Traveling Hero” catches up to Green Arrow on the road where his investigation crosses paths with another member of the Justice League: the Flash.

Despite the continued use of the awful costume redesign (seriously, this yellow piping has to go), it’s fun to see the Flash here. DC Rebirth keeps to the DCU’s history in that despite both being close friends with Hal Jordan, neither character gets along that well with the other.

Arrow - Lian Yu television review

The Fifth Season of Arrow comes to a close in an explosive season finale that returns Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) to Lian Yu to save his kidnapped friends and put an end to Prometheus (Josh Segarra) once and for all. And with the deck stacked against him, he’s not going alone. It’s homecoming week in the season finale as Ollie enlists the help of Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law), Digger Harkness (Nick E. Tarabay), and Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett). The final choice is a bit odd, considering the last dozen times we’ve seen him Deathstroke has been murderously intent on killing Oliver. Apparently sometimes prison rehabilitation works, as Slade is less murdery and crazy than we saw him last. While one of Oliver’s rag-tag band betrays him, Slade proves to be worthy of his trust.
