Arrow - Legends of Yesterday

The conclusion to the two-part The Flash/Arrow crossover, “Legends of Yesterday” picks up where “Legends of Today” left off with our heroes returned to Central City in hopes of preventing Vandal Savage (Casper Crump) from killing the latest reincarnations of Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée) and Hawkman (Falk Hentschel). As both Hawkman and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) attempt to help Kendra remember the hero she once was Oliver (Stephen Amell) becomes distracted by the sighting of an old girlfriend (Anna Hopkins) and a young boy he correctly suspects may be his son.

“Since when did our lives suddenly become an Indiana Jones movie?”

The Flash - Legends of Today

After weeks of laying building blocks leading up to the mid-season premiere of the new spin-off Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash kicks things into high-gear with the first part of a Flash/Arrow crossover that brings he heroes of both cities together to fight the unstoppable force of the immortal Vandal Savage (Casper Crump). Although Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) is nowhere to be found, all other hands are on deck for a storyline that begins in Central City with Savage’s arrival searching for the reincarnated Kendra Saunders (Ciara Renée) and her Hawkman (Falk Hentschel). Arrow - Lost Souls

After spending the previous couple of weeks bringing Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) back from the dead, Arrow turns its attention to the return of another supporting character with Felicity‘s (Emily Bett Rickards) discover that Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) is alive an in need of help. While the B-story deals with the temporary friction between Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity, not out of jealousy but born of Felicity blaming herself for not discovering the truth sooner, “Lost Souls” also spends a good bit of time focusing on Sara’s struggles to readjust to life even after getting her soul back.

Arrow - Haunted

“Haunted” not only brings in special guest-star Matt Ryan as John Constantine to help restore the soul of Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), but the episode’s flashbacks also give us the first meeting between the pair on Lian Yu and offer an explanation for another of Oliver‘s (Stephen Amell) tattoos. Although I thought Constantine had some problems, I grew to like Ryan as the occult detective. It’s fun to see him reprise his role here, especially with news that this won’t be the last we see of him in the shared TV universe.

Arrow - Restoration

While the main storyline of “Retoration” deals with Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Diggle (David Ramsey) working through their trust issues by tracking down the woman (Carmen Moore) who ordered the hit on Diggle’s brother, “Restoration” actually gets its name from its B-story which involves the resurrection of another fallen hero. I’m glad that the series got Ollie and Dig to work out their issues fairly early in the season rather than continuing to allow the distrust and anger to fester any longer. Even if Diggle is left without answers or a measure of revenge at least our hero’s most trustworthy sidekick is back onboard.
