Castle - Cool Boys

In an episode that doesn’t feature Beckett (Stana Katic), Castle (Nathan Fillion) is approached by his “old friend” Detective Slaughter (Adam Baldwin) to look into the heist of a prototype microchip. When Slaughter’s informant turns up dead Ryan (Seamus Dever) and Esposito (Jon Huertas) turn their attention to Slaughter as the number one suspect, but Castle chooses instead to believe the detective’s innocence even going so far as to steal Ryan and Esposito’s car to prevent them from taking Slaughter in for questioning.

Scorpion - Crazy Train

A runaway subway train with Paige (Katharine McPhee) and Ralph (Riley B. Smith) aboard sends the entire team into action to find a way to keep all the passengers alive until they can safely stop the train. Once again, one of the better episodes of the season doesn’t deal with world-ending stakes, but a personal story where the fate of members of the team hang in the balance. And, keeping with last week’s theme of Walter‘s (Elyes Gabel) reckless attempts of heroism, the leader of Scorpion will not only find a way to jump onto the moving train but also attempt to sacrifice himself in order to give both Paige and Ralph a better chance at survival.

The Flash - Family of Rogues

The arrival of Lewis Snart (Michael Ironside) in Central City isn’t a celebration for anyone, including the criminal’s children who he blackmails to service his own ends. After placing a bomb inside the head of Golden Glider (Peyton List), Lewis forces Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) to join his old man’s crew and help with his next big heist. Although I’m still not completely sold on the idea of Cold as a good guy, “Family of Rogues” does take an important first-step in moving the villain onto a new path which will likely culminate with his involvement in Legends of Tomorrow.

Batman - True or False Face / Holy Rat Race

In honor of Batman‘s 75th Anniversary we continue to look back at the more memorable moments of the 1966 Batman TV-series starring Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin. Based on an adventure in Batman #113, False Face (the uncredited Malachi Throne) would make his only appearance in the show in the two-parter “True or False Face” and “Holy Rat Race.” After stealing the Mergenberg Crown the master of disguise attempts an armored car heist, prepares to replace millions with conterfeit money, and lures the Dynamic Duo into a death trap in the Gotham City subway. Along the way False Face will take on several temporary personas including impersonating both Chief O’Hara (Stafford Repp) and Commissioner Gordon (Neil Hamilton).

“Too many secrets.”

Sneakers

Some movies age more gracefully than others. Even 20 years later Sneakers continues to entertain despite how much of the plot revolves around technology of the time. Robert Redford leads an unusual team of experts blackmailed by who they believe to be the NSA into stealing a Russian mathematician’s little black box which is the key to decrypting all known codes.

Along with a former CIA agent (Sidney Poitier), a blind computer expert (David Strathairn), a conspiracy nut (Dan Aykroyd), a hotshot kid (River Phoenix), and his ex-girlfriend (Mary McDonnell), Martin Biship (Redford) will attempt to stay one-step ahead of both government agents and shadowy figures (Timothy Busfield, Eddie Jones) while trying to capture the box and trade it for their freedom.

With the stellar cast (which also includes supporting roles by Ben Kingsley and Stephen Tobolowsky), Sneakers provides a humor-packed thriller complete with conspiracies, blind-man stunt driving, and the best use of Scrabble ever seen on film.
