The early sequences offer more flashes of the agent’s past before Bond has a conversation with M about what 003 was working on for M16 investigating a private organization recruiting top-level intelligence assets from around the world working for an agency without any allegiances drawn on a map.

Bond spends some time getting to know Wilhelm’s former assistant Sarah Richmond while mercenaries hit the human trafficker’s island only to discover his defenses are more than enough to keep out any uninvited guests. The question is, who is controlling the island now with Wilhelm dead? And is Sarah truly a victim in all of this, or something much more sinister?

There’s quite a bit of action here, starting with the failed island assault and ending with the assassin Kino catching up to Bond and Sarah and making an attempt on her life. In the encounter, the pair appear evenly matched raising Kino’s suspicions and just who is now protecting Sarah. Bond is now on the run with a woman he’s unsure if he can trust and with an assassin on his heels, where does he go from here?

The latest Bond tale opens with the murder of an inmate at Belmarsh Prison by an elite assassin hired by arms dealer Anton Barnes to keep the secrets of the villain, and his Dutch Ethno-Nationalists organization, safe from the world. Enter James Bond, assigned to protect the last remaining target that could tie Barnes back to the human trafficking ring of the dead inmate.

Bond doesn’t see much action in James Bond: Himeros #1 until he tracks down the capable Sarah Richmond at the end of the issue, arriving with roguish style. What we get here is mostly set-up, little more than an opening chapter to a larger story. Sarah is more capable than many Bond Girls, but with a super-assassin on the loose she’ll no doubt need 007’s help to stay alive.
