While other aspects of ongoing stories are on display including Henry‘s (Eddie Liu) return, Jin (Tzi Ma) getting into politics, Ryan‘s (Jon Prasida) relationship troubles, and Pei-Ling (Vanessa Kai) hiding from the world, the primary focus of “Harmony” centers around the reopening of the restaurant which is targeted by someone with a grudge, leading to several cameos from baddies of previous episodes as Nicky (Olivia Liang), Evan (Gavin Stenhouse), and Althea (Shannon Dang) attempt to narrow down the suspects but the true culprit turns out to be a disgruntled chef (Michelle Mao) denied a job in the restaurant. Despite all the drama, opening night goes off without a hitch.

Learning that Henry (Eddie Liu) has gotten in trouble in Iceland and is on the run from a mercenary (Josh Blacker) in Bangkok, Nicky (Olivia Liang) calls in help from old beau Evan (Gavin Stenhouse), current beau Bo (Ben Levin), and even Razor (Donald Sales) to find her ex before his trouble catches up with him. After their reunion, Nicky helps Henry look into the compass, the missing loadstone, and the mystery it unlocks (which it turns out is linked to Henry in ways he never understood). The compass story feels more than a little rushed, balancing a magical quest, destiny, and unresolved romantic questions all at once.

Kung Fu returns for its Third Season with the city still struggling to get back on its feet after the earthquake and crooked businessman (Seamus Dever) making the most out of the chaos including hiring local gangs to steal from the locals, including the Chen family restaurant, and kidnapping Althea (Shannon Dang) to get rid of evidence tying him to his shady deals. Although Alethia makes it out unscathed, except for her punishment for last season’s actions likely limiting her role as the group’s go-to techie this season, and our baddie heads to jail, the restaurant is still close to going under leading to the Chen’s looking to potential investors to keep things afloat. Looks like nearly everyone has their own stories this season.

Kung Fu wraps up its Second Season with Nicky (Olivia Liang) and Zhilan (Yvonne Chapman) follow Russell Tan (Ludi Lin) through a mystical door to Narni…, er, the Source (which turns out to look an awful lot like some of the woods the show has shot in before). All three meet ghosts that hinder their path (although you wonder why ghosts are trying to prevent Nicky and Zhilan from saving the realm from destruction). Mia (Vanessa Yao) follows as well, leading to a three-on-one fight against the super-powered Tan in an attempt to prevent him from escaping the crumbling realm with his new power. While not all three (apparently) survive, Zhilan is giving a bit of a redemptive hero moment in what may be her exit from the show.

After exhausting all other options to find Mia (Vanessa Yao), Nicky (Olivia Liang) reaches out to Zhilan (Yvonne Chapman) for help. Despite their distrust of each other, the pair work good together, and her addition is the last piece necessary to find Russel Tan (Kee Chan). Unfortunately, despite discovering several facets of Russell Tan’s plan and the location where he plans to ring the bell, our heroes aren’t able to stop events as Tan uses Mia’s blood, the body of his own son, and the hammer and bell to create an earthquake across the city.
