Batwoman - Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part Two television review

Hey, an episode of Batwoman that is actually good!? The Crisis crossover continues with the heroes searching for a very specific Superman before Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) can kill them all. Sorry Smallville fans it isn’t that one (although we do get a cameo by Tom Welling on the Kent family farm). The Superman (Brandon Routh) they are looking for turns out to look an awful lot like the Atom (also Routh) living on Earth-96 (based on Kingdom Come and also the various Superman films starring Routh and Christopher Reeve). That Superman is one of seven paragons necessary to fight the Anti-Monitor. That leaves Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Batwoman (Ruby Rose) in search of another paragon in Gotham of Earth-99 where the pair run into that world’s Batman (Kevin Conroy). I don’t mind the episode making Conroy a red herring, as it was unlikely Crisis would suit him up and throw him into the big battle scenes to come. Instead he offers a cautionary tale for Kate Kane to take another step forward as a hero (now if she could just find a show worthy of her).

Supergirl - Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part One television review

Supergirl kicks off the crossover The CW has been building towards for years as an anti-matter wave is approaching all Earths, threatening to wipe out all of existence. The Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) pulls heroes from various locations, bringing them to Supergirl‘s Earth-38 to make a stand. While the show’s current storyline’s are mentioned, most notably Lena (Katie McGrath) villain turn, the focus is on Crisis as all hands are on deck (even Lena) to find a way to evacuate the Earth should Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), Green Arrow (Stephen Amell), White Canary (Caity Lotz), the Atom (Brandon Routh), Superman (Tyler Hoechlin), Mia (Katherine McNamara), Batwoman (Ruby Rose), and the Flash (Grant Gustin) fail.

Legends of Tomorrow - Lucha de Apuestas television review

Legends of Tomorrow returns from hiatus with an episode that gets too serious for its own good (forgetting that the show is best when in joyously embraces the absurdity of its premise). There’s certainly some fun to be had as the Legends travel to 1961 to Mexico in search of the fugitive Konane (Darien Martin) who is working as a Mexican wrestler, but the episode bogs down at times with the relationship drama between Sara (Caity Lotz) and Ava (Jes Macallan) who work at cross purposes for much of the episode, secret conspiracies inside the Time Bureau that foreshadow future heartache and betrayal, and tragic love. Even the closing twist involving Moana (Ramona Young) is depressing as there are certainly no happy endings for anyone this week.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow - Legends of To-Meow-Meow television review

Legends of Tomorrow may have been left out of this year’s big crossover event, but this allows the Fall finale to wrap-up an ongoing story involving an attempt to fix Constantine‘s (Matt Ryan) ill-advised change to the timeline and bring an extra heaping of wacky antics. With the timeline fractured, Charlie (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), Zari (Tala Ashe), and Constantine try to fix issues in the timeline where members of the Waverider were killed of by magical creatures due to John and Charlie not joining the crew. The small fixes allow the characters to return to various episodes from earlier in the season, but each quick fix only creates new troubles for the remaining Legends to solve.

Legends of Tomorrow - The Virgin Gary television review

Despite Constantine‘s (Matt Ryan) warning at the end of last season, the Legends successfully complete their task of fixing the last of the anachronisms, earning the appreciation of the Time Bureau, and some time off for the team. While this means a trip home for Nate (Nick Zano) and some short-lived domestic bliss for Sara (Caity Lotz), new trouble in the timeline sends the team back to Woodstock where an unicorn is goring its way through hippies at an alarming rate turning the celebration of peace into a historical tragedy. Oh, and it ejaculates hallucinogenic sparks from its horn, making its victims more controllable. Its good to have the time traveling screw-ups back.
