The Flash - Invasion!

Now this is more like it. The big four-part crossover which was teased (but not actually begun) last night on Supergirl gets started here with the arrival of the Dominators on Earth. For those not familiar with the aliens, the Dominators were first introduced back in the 60s but made their most notable splash in DC Comics in 1989 as part of the Invasion! (good name) mini-series. Realizing he can’t stop the alien threat alone, Barry (Grant Gustin) enlists the help of Team Arrow (including the retired Thea), the Legends, and even hops universes to bring back Supergirl (Melissa Benoist). Although Barry doesn’t take naturally to leading, the team follows him… at least until they discover about Flashpoint whose effects continue to be discovered as one Legend learns he now has a loving daughter he has never met.

Legends of Tomorrow - Shogun

“Shogun” is more interesting for the potential impact of several plot points than the events themselves as the team’s number continues to grow and one character is left at a crossroads in his own super-hero career. With Ray (Brandon Routh) and Nate (Nick Zano) trapped in feudal Japan and the ship in need of immediate repairs (both caused by Nate testing out his new super-powers), Sara (Caity Lotz), Mick (Dominic Purcell), and the stowaway Vixen (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) head after the missing Legends.

Legends of Tomorrow - Out of Time

With Vandal Savage defeated and the Time Masters destroyed the Legends have assumed the responsibility of policing the timestream. Opening with time detective Nate Heywood (Nick Zano) reaching out to Mayor Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) for help to find the missing Legends who disappeared in 1942 by preventing a nuclear attack on New York, the episode is presented mostly in flashbacks as Mick (Dominic Purcell) recounts what exactly went wrong leaving the Waverider crashed at the bottom of the ocean (where Heywood and Ollie find it) and its team scattered randomly across time.

Legends of Tomorrow - The Complete First SeasonBuilding on the DC TV Universe created in Arrow and The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is a mixed bag. Cobbling together characters created for the show and others introduced on the on the other two shows as an unruly bunch of time travelers out to save the future, the show had more than few ups and downs during its First Season. Time Master Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) plucks a group of heroes and villains from modern day (rather than choose heroes from a wide swath of time which would have made more sense) to save his family and stop the villainous immortal Vandal Savage (Casper Crump) from conquering the world.

Jumping through time, the First Season did have its moments such as a bleak future for Star City and Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) and Kendra (Ciara Renée) getting stranded in 1958, but also some clunkers such as the team’s stop in the Old West.

Legends of Tomorrow - Legendary

Following his inability to save the lives of his wife and son, the crippling of the Time Masters’ ability to view and control history, and Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) sacrificing his life for the team’s freedom, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) decides to abandon his compatriots back in 2016. Finding it hard to readjust to their old lives, and unable to leave their job unfinished, the group brings Hunter back to 2016 (in a manner that isn’t all that well explained) to convince the Time Master to let them help rescue Kendra (Ciara Renée) from 1944 France.
