Coming Soon – Star Trek Beyond

  • Title: Star Trek Beyond
  • IMDb: link

This new trailer gives us a look at the upcoming Star Trek sequel in which the Enterprise will get destroyed (again) and the crew will be forced to fend for themselves planetside. Chris PineZachary QuintoZoe SaldanaKarl UrbanSimon Pegg, and Anton Yelchin all return. Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella also star. Under new director Justin Lin this looks like it could be an improvement over the last movie, but then again this also reminds me strong of the final two forgettable Next Generation movies (which I can’t be bothered to remember which is which). Star Trek Beyond opens in theaters on July 22nd.

  • wiki: link

Killjoys - The Complete First SeasonSet in a dystopian future, Killjoys follows the adventures of bounty hunting team Dutch (Hannah John-Kamen) and John (Aaron Ashmore) flying all over the quadrant on missions to bring in criminals. The pair’s dynamic is changed when John’s older brother D’Avin (Luke Macfarlane), a fellow soldier with plenty of baggage, joins the team.

Lasting only 10 episodes, the show’s First Season offers a couple of ongoing storylines to supplement the job of the week. Along with the friction between brothers, D’Avin’s past coming back to haunt him, and the growing unrest of the populace and a burgeoning rebellion, Dutch’s past as a super-assassin is teased throughout the season by the return of her mentor Khlyen (Rob Stewart) who wants her back. Highlights include Dutch forced to hunt down a friend, John dealing with the sudden escalation of Dutch and D’Avin’s relationship, and the team coming across a haunted spaceship.

Darth Vader #20

Darth Vader #20

Has he gotten away with it? That seems to be the case as Darth Vader survives encounters with both the Emperor and Inspector Thanoth. The former appears unaware of his apprentice’s machinations while the later will offer no threat to the Dark Lord of the Sith following this issue. While his plans are far from complete, there’s still the missing Aphra to deal with, it would appear Darth Vader has made it through events unscathed.

Star Wars #18

Star Wars #18While the Han and Luke‘s story is held to a minimum as nothing more than a comic interlude, the majority of Star Wars #18 focuses on Leia and Stana Starros getting stuck in the middle of the hijacking of Sunspot Prison while attempting to get some useful answers from Aphra. With all hell breaking loose, including dozens of killer robots shooting up the place and a masked man with ties to Leia’s past calmly executing prisoners, the three women must put aside their individual differences and find a way to work together if they have any hope of survival.

Darth Vader #19

Darth Vader #19Darth Vader‘s mission on Shi-torum comes to a close as the Dark Lord of the Sith is able to fight off the attack of the force-sensitives Morit and Aiolin before returning to the front lines and offering Trios the Imperial support the new queen needs to put down the anti-Imperial rebellion on the planet.

The manner in which Aiolin falls is surprising, although it works as a callback Vader’s lightsaber battle with Obi-Wan Kenobi in Revenge of the Sith. With the battle already halted, and knowing he can’t possibly best Vader on his own, Morit’s actions to sacrifice his sister are perplexing. Whatever his true motivations, I’ve little doubt we will see the him return before too long.
