Star Wars Rebels - Brothers of the Broken Horn

Another familiar face from Star Wars: The Clone Wars makes on an appearance on Star Wars Rebels when Ezra (Taylor Gray) responds to a distress call from Vizago (Keith Szarabajka) only to find Vizago’s ship and battle droids disabled and Hondo Ohnaka (Jim Cummings) in command with Imperial forces closing in. Choosing to go by the name Lando Calrissian, Ezra and his new friend get into a few more misadventures before all is said and done thanks to the arrival of Azmorigan (James Hong), Ezra releasing Vizago from the ship’s hold, and a last-minute double-cross by Hondo.

Star Wars Rebels - Always Two There Are

Searching an abandoned Old Republic post for valuable medical supplies, Ezra (Taylor Gray), Chopper, Sabine (Tiya Sircar), and Zeb (Steven Blum) run into not one (Philip Anthony-Rodriguez) but two (Sarah Michelle Gellar) Inquisitors who want to ask the young padawan about the whereabouts of Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein). Although the group manages to escape with the supplies, “Always Two There Are” reminds viewers about the dark days ahead for the burgeoning Rebellion until the day a farm boy will journey from his desert home in search of a princess in need of his help.

Chewbacca #1

Chewbacca #1Set shortly after the events of the Battle of Yavin in the original Star Wars, Marvel Comics’ new Chewbacca five-issue mini-series gives the Millennium Falcon co-pilot his own mission for the Rebellion. Stranded on a planet in need of parts to fix the ship he borrowed for the mission, Chewbacca makes the acquaintance of a young girl named Zarro who has escaped the local mines where her father is still a prisoner working off his debt to a local gangster and extortionist.

Despite the fact that Zarro cannot understand a word the Wookiee is saying, the pair strike up a quick rapport after Chewie decides to help the young woman on the run hide from the thugs who are chasing her. And even though he has his own mission to accomplish, Chewie certainly can’t abandon Zarro in her time of need.

Continuum - Final Hour

It’s not uncommon for a series final to feel rushed or drawn out, but it is less common for the final episode of a series to feel a bit of both. I’m curious to know how Simon Barry‘s full vision of the series (likely twice as long as the 39 episodes made for air) may have played out differently than the show’s truncated final season involving an army from the future, Kiera‘s (Rachel Nichols) last chance to make it home, tearful goodbyes, final betrayals, unexpected alliances, and a melancholy ending that is befitting the tone of Continuum. As it is we can only judge the show that was, rather than how it might have been.
