Star Wars Adventures #22

Star Wars Adventures #22 comic reviewSet between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi, “A Matter of Perception” takes Princess Leia, R2-D2, and C-3PO to the planet Nothoiin where Rebel Intelligence has reported sightings of Stormtroopers and are worried they might discover what the Rebels are up to in that sector.

When Leia chases an Aleena Youngling, who just stole some supplies from the Falcon, she runs straight into a squad of Stormtroopers. However, after getting their butts kick (Princess-style), the Stormtroopers turn out not to be the enemies Leia was looking for but new potential allies for the Rebellion.

Episode XIV: Jack Learns to Jump Good television review

Throwback Thursday takes us back to the adventures of the time-displaced samurai and his quest to make his way home. The first episode of Samurai Jack‘s Second Season is one of my favorites. After being denied access to a time portal by Aku (Mako) in the opening moments, a despondent Jack (Phil LaMarr) continues his wandering through the woods where he meets some new friends in a peaceful monkey tribe and the human (Jeff Bennett) raised by them. Jack’s new friends have a remarkable ability to jump good but they are defenseless against a more brutal tribe of apes that steal their food. In exchange for teaching them to defend themselves, the White Ape Tribe teach Jack how to “jump good.”

Star Wars Adventures #19

Star Wars Adventures #19 comic reviewThe latest issue of IDW’s family-friendly all-ages comic series takes fans back to the days of the Old Republic. “Roger Roger” is a somewhat goofy tale about a damaged Battle Droid, B1-0516, who decides to help Obi-Wan Kenobi and Rex who are outnumbered and outgunned by an entire legion of Battle Droids during the Battle of Horain. Star Wars: The Clone Wars fans will no doubt enjoy seeing Kenobi and Rex thrown together for the story, while the droid (who earns the nickname Bats by helping the duo) offers some comic relief (and unexpected back-up for our heroes).
