Spidey Super Stories #25

Wayback Wednesday takes us back to another classic adventure of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. The main story of Spidey Super Stories #25 pits Spidey against an evil twin created by Doctor Doom. It’s just the kind of wacky adventure you’d expect from the comic with Spidey battling his doppelganger before destroying the mirror which hid Doom’s evil twin-making machine (and for some reason destroys the twin?) and capturing Doom. While the logic at the end may not make much sense, it’s still quite a bit of fun with evil Spidey wearing a reversed-colored costume and looking for trouble.

Edge of the Spider-Verse #1

Offering tales of various Spider-Man-ish characters from across the multiverse, a new volume of Edge of the Spider-Verse begins here with… dinosaurs? “Enter Kraventooth the Hunter” offers us a tale of Spider-Rex battling Kraventooth the Hunter who is using the hero’s family for bait and sees the creation of Venomsaurus Rex who is knocked into a tar pit. It’s as crazy and silly as it sounds. Definitely a niche comic for those wanting all the Spidey-related content they can get their hands on, but far from a must-read.

Joe Fixit #3

Joe Fixit #3 continues to explore the time when the Hulk became a Las Vegas enforcer in a pinstripe suit. Picking up events following last month’s cliffhanger, Fixit (dosed with mind-control drugs from the Kingpin) runs wild in the casino only to stop suddenly (far more suddenly than one might have guessed) at one point be it from Spider-Man pleading with him or the inner monologue between the current Hulk persona and Dr. Bruce Banner. Either way, the rampage stops but things don’t necessarily turn out better for Banner.

Spidey Super Stories #23

Honey, I shrunk the Web-Head! Wayback Wednesday takes us back to another classic issue of the Web-Slinger in Spidey Super Stories #23. The main story involves Spider-Man battling the Green Goblin and being shrunk down to size due to the Goblin’s latest weapon. Turns out Spidey is heroic at any size and still finds a way to stop the Goblin’s crime spree and return to normal size.

The Amazing Spider-Man #20

With their getaway officially shot to hell, Spider-Man and Black Cat attempt to keep White Rabbit and a former Tombstone henchman alive and fight off the Silicon Six, which are a group of techie stand-ins using Secret Six tech of notable Spidey villains for a team building exercise at the snowy retreat that killed (but really didn’t) their CEO who is actually sneaking around invisibly in Mysterio gear and setting off Peter’s Spidey-sense. Got that?
