Spidey Super Stories #39

Flashback Friday takes us back to another issue of Spidey Super Stories. Although Thanos is on the cover, and plays a large role in one of the stories of issue #39, the more common thread is the obvious attempt to include women in the issue. The opening story involves a women’s rights march that is interrupted by Mastermind who uses sleep toxin in soda to put the marchers to sleep. The adventure features Ms. Marvel fighting alongside Spider-Man while Mary Jane works to rouse the crowd.

The issue also plays on various threads of the time with another medical issue for Aunt May, Peter and Mary Jane dating, and J. Jonah Jameson‘s crusade against Spider-Man.
