Star Wars: The Bad Batch - Aftermath television review

Opening at the end of the Clone Wars, the first episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch catches up with Clone Force 99 (all voiced by Dee Bradley Baker) on Kaller with the genetically mutated clone squad riding to the rescue only to see the rest of the clones turn on Depa Billaba and her Padawan. Returning to Kamino confuses the clones even more where the discover an Empire has risen, the “regs” have gotten more dickish than usual, and Admiral Tarkin (Stephen Stanton) has arrived to reexamine the role of a clone army within the First Galactic Empire. The look of the series mirrors the group’s appearance in Star Wars: The Clone Wars as the fan-favorites begin their own series of adventures.

Darth Vader #10

Darth Vader #10 comic reviewDarth Vader #10 continues the “Into the Fire” storyline of Darth Vader continuing to fight for his life. The end of the previous issue foreshadowed Vader’s journey to Exegol, the Dark Lord of the Sith won’t make it to the planet until the final panels as he faces a couple more challenges in a Summa-verminoth and a trio of Imperial Star Destroyers all intent on preventing Vader from reaching the planet.

Very much a middle issue of the arc, pushing any interesting reveals about Exegol to the next issue (at the earliest), Darth Vader #10 is an issue which you could skip over and not miss much. The issue isn’t bad, it features Vader’s impressive piloting skills (something Star Wars usually only showcases with Anakin prior to his fall to the Dark Side) and is notable some vivid hallucinations involving Vader and his son.

Darth Vader #9

Darth Vader‘s fight for his life on Mustafar continues in Darth Vader #9 as the Dark Lord of the Sith stays one-step ahead of Ochi who has been joined by an army of killer droids who mistakenly believe Vader’s parts are what give the Sith his power (and hope to steal a bit of that for themselves).

Despite his makeshift limbs, Vader proves more than enough for his adversaries. Armed with his lightsaber and new purpose, the arc makes yet another tie to The Rise of Skywalker with the introduction of a Sith wayfinder and Vader’s discovery of the existence of the Emperor‘s secret facility on Exegol.
