The Freemaker Adventures - Flight of the Arrowhead TV review

The Second Season of LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures has been about completing Rowan‘s (Nicolas Cantu) vision of the ship that will save the Rebellion. After retreiving the final piece, and getting out of the fray of the Rebellion’s latest skirmish wit the Empire, the Freemakers and head to the deserts of Jakku along with Quarrie (Corey Burton) and Valeria (Yvette Nicole Brown) to finish the Arrowhead in seclusion. However, it turns out the desert isn’t quite as abandoned as they believed.

The Freemaker Adventures - The Embersteel Blade

Needing specific hard-to-come-by parts to create Rowan‘s (Nicolas Cantu) vision of the Arrowhead, the Freemakers go undercover at an Imperial auction hoping to use the limited Rebel credits to get their hands on an old shuttle. When and over-zealous Zander (Eugene Byrd) bets on the wrong ship and familiar faces like Graballa, Wick Cooper, and others show up at the auction things get complicated – even more so when Graballa kidnaps Kordi (Vanessa Lengies) believing her to be a princess he can ransom to pay for his resort.

Darth Vader #3

Darth Vader #3 #comic reviewIn order to serve his master and earn his new lightsaber, Darth Vader‘s journey leads him to the Mid Rim and the River Moon of Al’doleem in search of a former Jedi in exile. Not simply waiting to be cut down by the Sith, Master Kirak Infil’a puts obstacles in Vader’s path making the journey to the top of his mountain a treacherous one.

We’ve normally seen Darth Vader as an unstoppable force of nature. Here, early in his resurrection from Anakin to Vader, the character is not yet the Sith Lord the galaxy will come to know and fear. Although apparently ready for death should it come, Master Kirak Infil’a is by no means eager to fall to Vader.

The Freemaker Adventures - Home One TV revoew

Season two of LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures begins with the Freemakers finding a new home with the Rebellion. While the humans prove their value with repairs and ability to trade for parts, Roger (Matthew Wood) ends up getting into trouble (although one of his stunts does earn him a medal when he unintentionally helps the Rebel Fleet take down a Star Destroyer). Another of Roger’s screw-ups gets both the robot and Rowan (Nicolas Cantu) involved in a bombing run. Even Zander (Eugene Byrd) gets some short-lived glory by taking down an entire squadron of TIE Fighters… before blowing himself up.

Darth Vader #1

Darth Vader #1 comic reviewSet earlier than Marvel’s previous Darth Vader series, the new comic begins shortly following the events of Revenge of the Sith with a newly resurrected Darth Vader sent out to prove his work to the Emperor and earn himself a new lightsaber. The logic of his mission seems a bit off, even for a Sith proving himself to his master, and I don’t know how I feel about the comic’s goofy explanation for where red Kyber Crystals come from.

While the setting allows for far more storylines than the previous comic (set between Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back) it also means we’re unlikely to see much in way of appearances of core Star Wars characters. The issue also includes a more humorous back-up story set far later in Vader’s timeline (mainly to justify a higher pricepoint for the comic).
