While providing a flashback to Jenny Sparks and Superman discussing his role as the most powerful being on the planet shortly after her return from the dead, the majority of Jenny Sparks #3 continues to focus on the Captain Atom issue with the former Leaguer holding hostages and demanding to be recognized as a god. The Justice League has arrived to handle the situation, ignoring Jenny’s input in favor a a shock and awe campaign that eventually just leaves us with the same status quo (well, that and Atom’s daughter who he barbeques rather than let her talk sense into him – not your best idea Justice League).

Superman Saturday takes us back to Smallville, Kansas. Teased multiple times over the show’s First Season leading up to the episode, “Zero” delves into Lex Luthor‘s (Michael Rosenbaum) bad boy days in Metropolis before being relocated to Smallville by his father. Secrets of the past haunting a character also bleed over into the episode’s B-story as a school assignment leads to Chloe (Allison Mack) poking around in the Kents’ adoption of Clark (Tom Welling). Just as Lex asks Clark to leave his past alone, Clark finds himself asking the same of Chloe.

The Absolute Power Tie-in offers the fun pairing of Superman and Zatanna making a deal with Neron for a magical map that will allow the heroes to travel through the shadows avoiding Amanda Waller and her forces. For some reason the pair end up at the House of Heroes adding another super-hero to their ranks and briefly finding Konfusion (the Earth-3 amalgamation of Superman, Batman, and Green Lantern). We also get a separate thread of Lois and friends searching for her husband which eventually connects to the main story.

Superman Saturday takes us back 90s Metropolis when ABC made you believe big city reporters could break any story, and, when necessary, that one of them could fly. Looking to expose the evil machinations of Barbara Trevino (Claudette Nevins) concerning illegal mining in the Amazon Rainforest, reclusive scientist Dr. Vincent Winninger (Elliott Gould) offers Lois (Teri Hatcher) a once-in-a-lifetime interview only to for her to witness his murder. She identifies the killer, or at least thinks she has, when in fact the real killer is makeup artist Sebastian Finn (played by several actors but credited to William Mesnik) who has a talent for disguising himself as virtually anyone.
