The Librarians and the Reunion of Evil

What was supposed to be a simple artifact retrieval turns into anything but for Stone (Christian Kane) and Cassandra (Lindy Booth) who, after retrieving the crystal, are forced to take shelter from a storm in a lodge full of Norse Frost Giants whose hatred of humans is only slightly less potent than their desire to feed from the crystal’s power. Meanwhile, back in the Library, Ezekiel (John Kim) proves Eve‘s (Rebecca Romijn) trust in him correct, both by protecting the egg of the Lochness Monster and in providing valuable intelligence for their missing Librarians (all while appearing to be doing nothing but slacking off as usual).

The Librarians and the Fangs of Death

I’m going to rename this one “The Librarians and the Werewolves of the Super Collider.” Spurred on by an apocalyptic vision, Flynn (Noah Wyle) journeys with Eve (Rebecca Romijn) to bring Charlene (Jane Curtain) home. Finding, but almost immediately loosing, her, Flynn and the other Librarians go in search of Charlene again which leads them to an underground super collider in Canada full of werewolves (Don’t you hate it when that happens?) transformed by Anubis brought forth by Apep as part of his plan to destroy The Library and release Pure Evil into the world.

The Librarians - The Complete First SeasonWith the show’s Third Season set to premiere in a couple of weeks, the First Season of The Librarians is finally released on DVD. Based on The Librarian TV-movies starring Noah Wyle, the series introduces a new crew of Librarians (Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, and John Kim) to save the world from magical threats. While Wylie returns for select episodes, including the series premiere and season finale, the focus here is on the new Librarians and their time working together along with their protector former counter-terrorism agent Eve Baird (Rebecca Romijn).

Highlights of the First Season include a trip to a Chicago science fair, a haunted house, an entire town out of sync, dragons, retrieving Excalibur, weaponized fairy tales, and an appearance by Santa Claus (Bruce Campbell).

The Librarians and the Final Curtain

The Second Season of The Librarians comes to a close with an amusing time travel storyline as Flynn (Noah Wyle) and Eve (Rebecca Romijn) travel back to the age of Shakespeare to stop Prospero (Richard Cox). Since his introduction in the season premiere Prospero has been an ill-defined, and largely absent, villain. “And the Final Curtain” helps explain the character’s creation and true motivations, although it doesn’t sell the character or help him look better compared to the much more intriguing Moriarty (David S. Lee), a character who is sadly cast aside like so much rubbish.

The Librarians and the Happily Ever Afters

Setting up next week’s season finale, Flynn (Noah Wyle) returns to the Library after collecting the last of the missing artifacts only to find things amiss. Not only are Eve (Rebecca Romijn) and the rest of the Librarians missing in action but Jenkins (John Larroquette) has no memory of any member of the group.
