In the fallout from the confrontation with the Sparrows, Luther (Tom Hopper) attempts to win trust back from Sloane (Genesis Rodriguez) as the two come up with a plan to broker piece between the two families. The arrival of Harlan Cooper (Callum Keith Rennie) leads to several questions from Viktor (Elliot Page) who by the end will make a shocking discovery concerning the death of the Umbrella Academy’s mothers and the Grandfather Paradox that is slowly destroying the universe. Viktor isn’t the only one to make a shocking discovery as Five (Aidan Gallagher) and Lila (Ritu Arya) discover the man behind the crumbling Temps Commission who warns the pair not to try and save the world.

The episode is also notable for Klaus (Robert Sheehan) discovering that this version of events hasn’t been all that kind to their father, the giant ball of death continuing to grow in the Academy’s basement, and the death of two more members of the Sparrows.

While Luther (Tom Hopper) spends a little time with the Sparrows, Vanya (Elliot Page) makes an important change, Diego (David Castañeda) spends some time with his son, Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman) returns dejected, and Klaus (Robert Sheehan) and Five (Aidan Gallagher) take a road trip (giving us the episode’s title) that leads to an important discovery about the Umbrella Academy’s existence in this new timeline. The episode carefully, but quickly, deals with Vanya becoming Viktor which is accepted by his family allowing the story to continue, and despite being a hostage of the Sparrows for most of the episode Luther continues to fall for Sloane (Genesis Rodriguez).
