Pretty Little Liars - Bedlam

With Mary Drake (Andrea Parker) choosing to return Hanna (Ashley Benson) to her friends the Liars are left questioning whether Jessica DiLaurentis‘ twin-sister is friend or foe. Choosing to place her trust in Mary, Emily (Shay Mitchell) uses the family connection to see an increasingly disturbed Alison (Sasha Pieterse) whose husband has cut-off all non-family visitors at the mental institution where he continues to torture his wife. And here the worm begins to turn as Emily and the rest of the Liars finally begin to question the true motivations of Elliot (Huw Collins) who the episode seems to confirm as the main brain behind A.D. and not Mary Drake.

Pretty Little Liars - Tick-Tock, Bitches

Pretty Little Liars – The Complete Sixth Season

Pretty Little Liars - The Complete Sixth SeasonMuch like the Sixth Season of The Mentalist, Pretty Little Liars makes the unusual choice to break-up a single season into two separate parts with the first wrapping up the long-running mystery of the series and the second setting up the final season-and-a-half of new situations and newtrouble for our characters. The mid-season mark culminates in the (somewhat disappointing) reveal and capture of CeCe Drake (Vanessa Ray) as A. It’s obvious that the show’s writers had chosen the character to be their villain early in the show’s run and chose to stick to their guns, but the lack of Cece’s impact in recent years made her choice an odd one six seasons into the series.

Highlights of the first-half of the season include each of the Liars struggling to deal with their captivity after being captured by A at the end of the previous season, the Liars going to prom, A turning Aria‘s (Lucy Hale) photography exhibit into another attack at the girls, and the Liars‘ search for evidence that Charles DiLaurentis is still alive (which leads to the revelation that Charles and CeCe are the same person).

Pretty Little Liars - Hush, Hush, Sweet Liars

Sorry, I don’t get it. The Sixth Season of Pretty Little Liars comes to a close with the plan of the Liars to capture the new A backfiring (like their plans usually do) leading to Hanna (Ashley Benson) being taken by their adversary. The finale’s big reveal takes place first under the ruins of Radley and later at the remains of Caleb‘s (Tyler Blackburn) trap as we learn Alison’s mother has a twin sister, Mary Drake (Andrea Parker), who is the real mother of Charlotte. Apparently she’s been working with Elliot (Huw Collins) this entire time to steal Alison’s 51% share of the Carissimi Group. This explains the sudden gaslighting of Alison by her husband and aunt (admittedly creepy and effective, but should have started weeks ago), but not the torturing of the Liars themselves (as it seems the an extremely unlikely way to solve Charlotte’s murder).
