Very much in the vein of Guardians of the Galaxy or Suicide Squad, Thunderbolts* offers the teaming up of lovable losers. In the case of Thunderbolts* (the name of which turns out to be one of the movie’s better jokes), the group are all independent black-ops cleaners for Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) who, while under investigation from Congress about her illegal programs, has had each of them tying up any loose ends that would lead back to her.

The four-issue run wraps up here with the White Widow tracking Armament owner Renata Best back to her lair. In super-villain fashion, Best reveals all her plans to the hero and even offers Yelena a job with the company helping to train the assassins of the future for the (those future assassins being disposable cyborg killers she can destroy at any time). Yelena, however, has other plans.

White Widow #3 continues the format of the series so far with a flashback to White Widow‘s interaction with a well-known Marvel hero followed by Yelena investigating trouble in her new home. The flashback from this issue involves Yelena getting into it with She-Hulk who Yelena attempts to convince that assassination is pretty cool.

Yelena‘s new life in the suburbs gives us a trip to the farmer’s market, discussions with her neighbors about corporations, assassins at her door, and Armament taking a forceful approach in an attempt to kick Yelena out of Idyllhaven. White Widow #2 is another fun issue starting with a flashback of Yelena dealing with another assassin also sent to kill Wolverine who offers some off-the-cuff advice that has changed the assassin’s career path.
