Wonder Woman #751

Wonder Woman #751 comic reviewA new chapter for Wonder Woman begins as her attempt to create a new life for herself in Boston leads to an arrest and probation by her friend and neighbor Agent Nora Nunes who apparently is the sole judge and jury to decide whether having an Amazon living there does potentially more harm than good.

While the framework of the story seems a bit… off (there really isn’t any arrest to speak of, regardless of what Nora says, and panel of Diana at gunpoint is more laughable than anything else), it actually works well to showcase the work Diana does to those skeptical of a god/hero living among them. Wonder Woman #750

Wonder Woman #750 comic reviewAs DC Comics have done for recent #1000 issue milestone issues of Action Comics and Detective Comics, Wonder Woman earns an over-sized issue featuring multiple stories from a who’s who of writers and artists (along with some art and an insane assortment of variant covers thrown in). While there isn’t one stand-out story here, it’s a solid collection of tales touching on different aspects of who Wonder Woman is.

The story that earns the most pages is the “Wild Hunt” conclusion of Diana’s battle with Cheetah featuring Wonder Woman besting her rival and reclaiming that which she has lost including the lasso and her bracelets.

Wonder Woman #76

Wonder Woman #76 comic reviewWonder Woman #76 is a transitional issue bridging the gap between the previous arc and teasing what is to come as the comic gets wrapped up in DC’s current Year of the Villain event. While I’m not all that interested in Cheetah going all god killer over the next few issues, this issue works impressively as a standalone issue (even if you, like me, haven’t been paying close attention to the comic recently).

A solid issue all around, there’s enough here for both longtime and casual fans including some strong art by Lee Garbett and some nice character moments between Diana and both friends and enemies.
