24: Live Another Day - 1pm - 2pm

Finding Derek Yates (Joseph Millson) dead in a public restroom, Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) and Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub) race to try and catch the young woman who was posing as the hacker’s girlfriend who they discover is in fact Simone Al-Harazi (Emily Berrington), the daughter of terrorist Margot Al-Harazi (Michelle Fairley). Despite tracking her to the London’s subway system (in this week’s best action sequence), the young woman proves quite capable and inventive in loosing her pursuit and deliver Yates’ device into the hands of her mother and brother Ian (Liam Garrigan).

The third episode of the season spends quite a bit of time with the Al-Harazis showcasing the relationship between mother and daughter and the relationship between Simone and her husband Naveed (Sacha Dhawan) who, with growing doubts about the number of civilian casualties their plan will create, appears to be the only member of the group not a true believer in their cause. With the drug dealer (Tamer Hassan) their only clue to what Bauer is after, Kate (Yvonne Strahovski) impresses Ritter (Gbenga Akinnagbe) by her ability to read the situation and find a way to make the man talk leaving the CIA agents with scattered knowledge about the drones, Yates’ machine, and several other puzzle pieces that don’t yet fit as they continue to search for Jack Bauer.

The show’s trademark pace struggles somewhat every time it leaves one of these three stories, and in my opinion splits its focus (at least) one too many times, to look in on President Heller (William Devane) and his plans to speak in front of Parliament about the drone strike, Boudreau‘s (Tate Donovan) hidden agendas and his wife, and the President’s daughter, Audrey (Kim Raver), caught in the middle. Nothing from this storyline is of much interest save for the fact that we see Boudreau forging the President’s name on official documents when it serves his purpose and Heller’s decision to turn over drone pilot Chris Tanner (John Boyega) which, at least momentarily, merges Jack and Kate’s storylines when the CIA spot Bauer breaking into the embassy as the episode comes to a close.
