- Title: Adventures of Superman – Night of Terror

Superman Saturday takes us back to the 1950s and a strange visitor from another planet who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men. “Night of Terror” is an interesting episode of Adventures of Superman as neither Clark (George Reeves) nor Superman play much of a role until the final few minutes. While out of the city, Lois (Phyllis Coates) stumbles into a pair of criminals just after a murder. Her call for help doesn’t reach Clark or Superman, but it does reach Jim Olson (Jack Larson) who arrives at the roadside motel and is mistaken for the young assassin the syndicate has sent to take care of the women.
The episode is really about treading water and seeing how long it can go without bringing in Superman as Clark returns to the office to hear about Lois’ plight, but due to the message being lost it takes the reporter time to limit the right motel she, and now Jimmy, could be. Eventually this allows Superman to take to the skies and land in two other motels in short, and funnier than they should be, segments before eventually making it to the right motel and saving the day. While the criminals were certainly dangerous to his colleagues, and the episode does a good job creating a situation where Lois and Jimmy feel legitimately in peril (partly due to Coates actually taking the hit early on that knocks Lois unconscious due to a mistimed stunt), they are no match for the Man of Steel.
