- Title: Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! – Screama Donna

Scooby Sunday takes us back to another mystery involving some meddling kids and their talking dog. Originally airing in October 2015, Mystery, Inc. meet famous musician Bones Malone (Josh Keaton) in “Screama Donna” while also investigating the haunting of the theater, where he is scheduled to perform, by the Ghost of Prima Donna.
There are some enjoyable bits here including a fun bit involving Scooby (Frank Welker) and Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) pretending to be panther control officers in order to gorge themselves in the green room and the ghost chasing the gang around the old theater while Bones Malone sings “Be Yourself” which eventually leads to the capture and unmasking of the (very human) villain. The episode also reveals musical talent by several members of the band, including a shy Velma (Kate Micucci) pressured to sing the wrap-up by the audience.
I never caught Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! during its run on Cartoon Network and later Boomerang between 2015-2018. I’ll admit the animation is a bit of hard sell for me, which certainly goes for a different look than classic Scooby. However, I did appreciate how much this episode attempted to capture the wacky tone of the original series and there’s enough here for me to want to take a look at a few more episodes.
