Charlie's Angels - Angel in Love television review

Throwback Tuesday takes us back to the tale of three beautiful former police officers turned private detectives working for a faceless boss known as Charlie. The Angels are sent in undercover to investigate a murder at a resort. Kris (Cheryl Ladd) and Kelly (Jaclyn Smith step in to replace two employees who quit while Sabrina (Kate Jackson) uses her old reliable identity as a journalist after a story. While Kris and Kelly are attacked and have their lives threatened, Sabrina falls hard for another guest (Peter Haskell) which proves problematic when Kris and Kelly uncover evidence linking him to the victim, and a missing $2 million, making him the prime suspect in the murder.

The Sabrina love storyline takes up a good chunk of the episode, and she continues to defend Doug even when evidence starts to mount. Although he’s not responsible for the murder, he is a criminal on the run forcing the Angel to put duty over love. Sabrina’s established bad taste in men continues. The episode is notable for having Kris and Kelly race down the real killer on horseback (offering some very odd close-ups of the two where the logos on their resort t-shirts are reversed). Sabrina is also shown to be a talented writer in earlier scenes with Doug. Bosley (David Doyle) is sent in undercover again, but does little to help the case. Instead, his plot thread mainly deals with trying to find food and break the diet the resort has put him on based on Charlie’s requests.
