Charlie's Angels - Angels on the Air television review

Throwback Thursday takes us back to the tale of three beautiful former police officers turned private detectives working for a faceless boss known as Charlie. After someone takes a shot at a reporter (Linda Dano), the Angels go undercover at the radio station to catch the shooter. While Kelly (Jaclyn Smith) takes the place of the reporter at the station, with Bosley (David Doyle) working a desk, Sabrina (Kate Jackson) becomes the new reporter in the sky. Meanwhile, Kris (Cheryl Ladd) checks out other suspects while playing the role of a hippie biker chick. However, one by one, each of the suspects are cleared.

The structure of “Angels on the Air” is a little unusual as the first 80% of the episode features the Angels striking out with various suspects, albeit ones with good reason to want revenge on the reporter. It’s only in the final 10 minutes that they get far down enough on the list to find their would-be killer (Nicolas Coster) and uncover his motives but not before he comes close in separate attempts to kill both Kelly and Sabrina. The episode is notable for the helicopter chase that saves Kelly’s life and for Charlie calling on the Angels without the company of his usual female companion(s) of the week.
