Charlie's Angels - Pretty Angels All in a Row television review

Throwback Tuesday takes us back to the tale of three beautiful former police officers turned private detectives working for a faceless boss known as Charlie. When the organizer of the Miss Chrysanthemum Beauty Pageant reaches out for help after several of the contestants have been scared off, Kris (Cheryl Ladd) and Kelly (Jaclyn Smith) go undercover as new contestants with Sabrina (Kate Jackson) and Bosley (David Doyle) backing them up as reporters covering the event. What Sabrina discovers, while getting herself captured, is the attacks on contestants and the kidnapping and bribing of judges are all part of a half-assed plan by a pair of henchmen (Burton Gilliam and Richard Kelton) attempting to get the daughter (Doney Oatman) of their boss the title.

Although the plan of the idiot cowboys momentarily succeeds, the Angels are able to capture the kidnappers and make sense of the bizarre situation that started with attacks designed to scare off potential winners and escalated to kidnapping. Despite neither Kris nor Kelly being too pleased with their latest assignment, both throw themselves into attempting to win the competition (while also solving the mystery). The newest Angel gets highlighted again with Kris’ magic show being one of the stand-out moments of the episode (the episode also finds a way to get her into another bikini while hanging out with the other contestants). The episode is also notable for Bosley and Sabrina fucking with their client by giving him a made-up task that turns out to help the group nab the henchmen and find their missing friend just as the judges are announcing the pageant’s winners.
