Charlie's Angels - Terror on Ward One television review

Throwback Thursday takes us back to the tale of three beautiful former police officers turned private detectives working for a faceless boss known as Charlie. Jill (Farrah Fawcett) and Kelly (Jaclyn Smith) go undercover as student nurses at a hospital where several women have been attacked by an unknown assailant dressed in doctor’s scrubs. With Sabrina (Kate Jackson) undercover as a reporter interviewing staff and Bosley (David Doyle) as a patient, the Angels can keep tabs on their three leading suspects: a pill-popping surgeon (Jack Bannon), an ornery patient (Arch Johnson), and the ward’s resident gigolo (Robert Lipton).

For those unaware of how big of a sex symbol Farrah Fawcett was at the time, the episode will leave you with no doubts as one of the more memorable moments includes her flirting across the hospital cafeteria in order to get the attention of one of the suspects (she’ll also crush the man’s ego later while attempting to elicit a response that would suggest his guilt as the would-be rapist). Despite what the initial clues suggest, none of the suspects is responsible (although one does turn out to be a victim). Kelly and Sabrina each take down one of the attackers in the episode’s tenser moments where both women are isolated by the armed criminals. While the show laughs it off, Bosley’s time as a patient ends with him having pretty good grounds for a malpractice suit given the unnecessary surgery he’s given while the Angels’ attentions are elsewhere.
