Danger Man - The Girl in Pink Pajamas television review

Our Throwback Thursday post takes us back into the Cold War spycraft of Danger Man. “The Girl in Pink Pajamas” offers a terrific set-up as John Drake (Patrick McGoohan) heads to the Balkans where an attempted assassination is being kept under wraps at a small hospital, under the guise of mysterious contagion, as doctors work to save the President (Robert Cawdron) of an Amercian-friendly Balkan state. At the same time a young American woman (Angela Browne) suffering from amnesia but muttering about the hospital is found in the countryside. Drake returns to the hospital with the woman, hoping to put the pieces together before another attempt is made on the President’s life.

Featuring two separate mysteries which are intertwined, that only begin to come together when the girl is confronted at the hospital by a local policeman (Harvey Hall) who threw her off the train, there’s quite a bit happening here. The climax takes place inside the operating theater where Drake bluffs well-enough to halt the procedure and then take down the would-be killers (John Crawford, Alan Tilvern, and Hall) in the hallways outside in one of the more elaborate stunt sequences this far in the series. The result is grateful world leader and a memorable episode of Danger Man.
