Darkwing Duck - Getting Antsy television review

Throwback Tuesday takes us back to crime-ridden streets of St. Canard and a hero who flaps in the night. After a hard night crimefighting, an exhausted Darkwing Duck (Jim Cummings) takes Gosalyn (Christine Cavanaugh) for a few rounds of miniature golf only to be shrunk to the size of Lilliput (Frank Welker) who has been shrinking buildings all over town to add them to the course. Using his helmet to communicate, the villain has ants steal the various locales and break into the miniaturized vaults allowing him to expand the treasures back to normal size.

The episode rolls with the villain’s goofy look and scheme, which even Launchpad McQuack (Terence McGovern) comments on, while still showcasing how formidable a foe with an army of ants and a shrink ray at his disposal can be. Along with Lilliput, “Getting Antsy” introduces a couple of St. Canard locales in Goony Golf and Hamburger Hippo. The episode is also the first to feature Gosalyn’s friend Honker (Katie Leigh) and features Drake Mallard dressing up in the wrong costume at one point to appear as William Drakespeare.
