Descendants 3

The last of the Descendants Disney Channel films to star the original cast, Descendants 3 focuses on Mal (Dove Cameron) overcompensating to stick up for her new home, four new VKs in Dizzy Tremaine (Anna Cathcart), Celia Facilier (Jadah Marie), and Squeaky Smee (Christian Convery) and Squirmy Smee (Luke Roessler) being allowed into Auradon, and Audrey (Sarah Jeffery) losing her shit when Ben (Mitchell Hope) proposes to Mal and becomes a villain out for revenge.

The Mal plotline is the weakest, mainly there to create some tension between her friends and allies in the final act. As for Audrey, Jeffery is having fun in full villain mode after not being included in the second film. Sadly, the new VK kids aren’t all that interesting other than Dizzy whose role in the previous film felt more important. And China Anne McClain returns as Uma, now in the role of ally, allowing the franchise to wrap-up her story with Mal.

The other addition to the franchise is Cheyenne Jackson as Mal’s deadbeat dad Hades whose attempt to breach the portal raised concerns in Auradon leading to Mal’s unfortunate, and unnecessary, secret suggestion. After a lot of infighting, tears, various characters being turned to stone, and big musical numbers, Aurodon is saved, and in working together with the villains against a lost hero, Mal proves to herself and the rest of the kingdom that the barrier should come down ending the trilogy with the bridge restored.
