Hawaii Five-0 - Kanalu Hope Loa

The robbery of a Waikiki tour bus by a gang of three bikini clad thieves (Allie Gonino, Sumire, Sonya Balmores) offers the young surfers and Five-0 more than they initially bargained for. The shooting of one of the bus’ passengers who was being held-up by another woman (Erica Piccininni) at the time of the robbery forces Kono (Grace Park) to go undercover to find the surfers. After arresting one of the girls it takes more than a little convincing to make the young woman understand just how much danger the other two women are in if Five-0 doesn’t find them before the killers.

“Kanalu Hope Loa” certainly plays up the sex appeal (espeically during the opening sequence involving the three surfers boarding and robbing the bus) and offers a legitimate reason to put Grace Park back in a bikini (a decision which I will always support). The episode also continues the two B-stories as despite McGarrett‘s (Alex O’Loughlin) dismissal of Jerry‘s (Jorge Garcia) suspicions concerning a counterfeit ring, Jerry enlists the help of Kamekona (Taylor Wily) to continue his own investigation. Danny (Scott Caan) also goes in search of his brother’s hidden millions before Marco Reyes (Anthony Ruivivar) decides to make good on his treats.

Lots of bikinis, twists, and plenty of action make for a solid episode. Although I expect Danny to come out fine in the end, it’s unclear whether or not his actions will save his brother (and the preview to next week’s episode seems to suggest the simple money exchange may get a tad over-complicated). Jerry’s storyline takes on some dark foreshadowing here and I think there’s a good chance he might be in for a world of hurt (or worse) before the subplot eventually finds its end.
