The death of a volleyball coach (Joe Toro) uncovers a money laundering scheme run by a former cop (William Baldwin) that leaves one man dead and a woman (Meredith Monroe) on the run not realizing the money she took from her husband actually belongs to some very bad men. Kono’s (Grace Park) story arc comes to a head with the former police officer finds herself in a getaway car with a man (Gary Price) shot by her former teammates.

Thankfully, and not a moment too soon, Kono’s rebellious days come to an end with a twist anyone with a pulse will have seen coming. To no surprise, Kono has been working undercover for to take down Delano (Baldwin) and earn back her badge.

When McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) and his team learn the truth about Kono’s situation they’re actually angrier than they were when they assumed she had gone bad. McGarret goes so far as to belt IA Captain Vincent Fryer (Tom Sizemore) for putting a cop barely into her second year into such a dangerous situation. The story plays out, and despite a minimum of blood being shed the team finds its way back together.

The Kono gone bad story wasn’t a bad idea (at least in theory), but it was never sold well and I’m happy to see it done (and hopefully buried and forgotten). Here’s hoping the team can get back to doing what they do best, argue and take down bad guys.
