Hawaii Five-0 - O ka Pili'Ohana ka 'Oi

The Season Four finale of Hawaii Five-0 brings a pair of villains back to the island and hard choices for both McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) and Grover (Chi McBride). Just as McGarrett learns Wo Fat (Mark Dacascos) has broken out out of a maximum security prison in Colorado and is making his way back to the island Grover is contacted by Ian Wright (Nick Jonas) who kidnaps the officer’s daughter (Paige Hurd) and demands Grover help him steal $100 million in recently recovered drug money.

After spending the time to set-up and elaborate scenario involving a SWAT van and bomb scare at the airport where Ian’s crew led by Grover can take the money from Five-0, the robbers only to discover someone has gotten to the money before them. Five-0 attempts to track down the DOD bureaucrat (Richard Burgi) who arranged the money transfer, and decided to keep it all for himself, but once again they come up empty as both the agent and money have disappeared. Sharing his own experience when Grace (Teilor Grubbs) was kidnapped, Danny (Scott Caan) keeps Grover from breaking down, and with the help of Ian (who wants the money he’s worked so hard for) Five-0 traces the missing agent and the cash to a local Samoan Drug Cartel holed up in an impregnable fortress.

Although the episode begins with Wo Fat’s escape we don’t see him again until he shows up to help solve Five-0’s problem by killing Ian and releasing Grover’s daughter. In much the way a conversation between Kono (Grace Park) and Chin Ho (Daniel Dae Kim) about the possibility of her marrying Adam (Ian Anthony Dale) is more about laying the groundwork for a future storyline than determining anything in the season’s final episode. The fallout of the kidnapping leaves Grover temporarily unemployed, despite recovering the money and making several arrests including the dirty agent and local cartel members, but until he’s offered a spot on Five-0 where he’ll apparently step-in to take Catherine‘s (Michelle Borth) spot next season.
