Intelligence - The Rescue

When two college students (Abbie Cobb, Kimberly Whalen) are abducted from their dorm room by a Mexican drug cartel, one of who turns out to be the daughter of a Senator about to pass important legislation involving satellite use to cut down on drug running near the border, Cyber Command is approached by Weatherly (Tomas Arana) and a shadowy government figure who it turns out is Lillian Strand’s (Marg Helgenberger) father (Peter Coyote).

With the Senator refusing to reach out for help and willing to scrap the bill which is the center of his political platform in order to save his daughter, Gabriel (Josh Holloway) and Riley (Meghan Ory) head down south to save the two young women. Things get complicated quickly, first when the girls are separated and second when Cyber Command leans the drug kingpin they are hunting is an asset to the United States Government who they will not allow to come to harm.

Once again the show plays fast and loose with how much action Cyber Command in general, and Riley in particular, will let Gabriel get into. Although she keeps him out of the fray early on, her actions late in the episode force him to go on a questionable one-man rescue mission to save the Senator’s daughter and his partner (through clues which he is only able to capture through one of his cyber renderings). The episode also highlights the continued murkiness of how the various government agencies work together (or fail to) and gives us a look at how similar Lillian is to the father she cannot stand.
