Killjoys - What to Expect When You're Expecting...An Alien Parasite television review

“What to Expect When You’re Expecting…An Alien Parasite” is a fun episode that finally features all the core characters together under one roof. While trying to figure out how to help Johnny (Aaron Ashmore), more of Dutch‘s (Hannah John-Kamen) time in the Green is revealed (although still not how she managed to escape). While we still don’t understand why the Green crystallized following her return to the real world, we now know why Aneela stayed behind and what the Lady wanted from Dutch. As for Johnny, his attempt to kill himself not only revealed a way to de-Hullenize him but also how to deliver Delle Seyah Kendry‘s (Mayko Nguyen) baby, which it turns out isn’t a tentacle monster ready to enslave the human race. I don’t know if I’m relieved or disappointed.

Zeph (Kelly McCormack) earns her keep her helping out both Johnny and super-pregnant Kendry. Johnny’s homicidal run comes to a close a little earlier than I’d like, but this gets things on the ship closer to normal than we’ve seen so far this season. The show puts its own spin on the birthing process, but I was a bit surprised at how normal D’Avin‘s (Luke Macfarlane) child appears to be. As for the Lady’s plans, odd things appear to be afoot back on the Hullen armada and the quick glimpse of their future doesn’t look to rosy for our rowdy band of misfits.
