Lucifer - ¡Diablo! television review

Apprised of the situation by Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside), the real Lucifer (Tom Ellis) returns from Hell to find Michael and attempt to undo the damage his twin brother has caused in Lucifer’s absence from Los Angeles. Lucifer and Chloe‘s (Lauren German) reunion is bittersweet given Michael’s bombshell about the purpose of Chloe’s creation. Unable to immediately find his brother, Lucifer and Chloe work together on a new case involving the murder of a television showrunner Lucifer helped out years ago who decided to use Lucifer to create a TV series about a crime-solving Devil called Lieutenant ¡Diablo!. While the Devil may be flattered, Chloe isn’t all that keen on her character (Brianne Davis) being rewritten as a former stripper turned assistant.

The introduction of Lieutenant ¡Diablo! offers some lighter moments for the episode while Lucifer struggles to reconnect to the people in his life, including both Chloe and Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) who push him away, before confronting his brother in a twin-on-twin battle royale. Chloe is able to solve the crime on the TV set, but it doesn’t solve the issues between the Detective and her partner. As for Lucifer, Michael has a few choice words for him as well leaving the Devil to wonder if his brother has been manipulating him for eons. Despite running away with his wings between his legs after Lucifer makes certain the pair will never be confused again, Michael finds a new way to toy with Lucifer’s life by targeting Maze.
