The big rehearsal for the musical arrives and with it so too Detective Williams (Da’Vine Joy Randolph) and the police to interrogate every member of the play as a potential murder suspect. “Sitzprobe” also offers some revelations about Loretta‘s (Meryl Streep) scrapbook and her connection to someone tied to the play who, when they come under scrutiny by the police, decides to throw herself on the sword and admit to Ben’s murder. By the end of the episode the police will have a suspect in custody, but likely not the murderer.
After the recent tensions between our podcasters, events also bring them back together with Charles (Steve Martin) and Oliver (Martin Short) working to get Mabel (Selena Gomez) some juicy information for her podcast. The episode is also notable for the first successful performance of Charles’ patter song (to the surprise of the entire cast). A little late snooping also clues in Charles and Mabel to Loretta’s connection to Dickie (Jeremy Shamos) while a confused Oliver can only watch as the woman he loves is taken away by the police and any chances of his glorious Broadway debut go up in smoke. With only a couple of episodes remaining, the podcasters have their work cut out for them to solve a murder and save a play.
