“I’m psychic detective Shawn Spencer and that’s my brother Daryl, and my other brother Daryl.”

Psych - Nip and Suck It

After Henry (Corbin Bernsen) discovers a body of a young woman, Shawn (James Roday) begins to suspect that the victim’s plastic surgeon (Lori Loughlin), and a former flame of Henry’s, who the victim was suing might be responsible. Running his own investigation, Henry uncovers another  patient () as well as rival plastic surgeon (Gregory Harrison) both of whom had motive for the murder. However, Shawn’s theory looks more promising, especially after Henry finds the drug used to kill the victim in his former flame’s purse (and gets knocked unconscious by her shortly afterward).

Not feeling as good as he expected after showing up his father, and finding one or two small inconsistencies with the case, Shawn continues the investigation with the help of Gus (Dulé Hill) who spends most of the episode regretting his decision of a BOTOX injection. A little more digging, and the discovery of a second victim, gives Shawn the final piece of the puzzle and allows the psychic detective to lead Lassie (Timothy Omundson) and Juliet (Maggie Lawson) to their killer (Cindy Busby).

“Nip and Suck It” brings back some of the old Shawn and Henry competitiveness from the show’s earlier seasons. Henry’s surprise at the end of the episode of opening his own detective agency is a little telegraphed, but at least this will give the character something else to do now that he’s no longer part of the police force. We also get the news that Shawn and Juliet are officially back together, but Gus’ news from London isn’t great as it looks like Rachael (Parminder Nagra) is preparing to break-up with the playa. Next week’s season finale (not counting the show’s musical episode which will air later this Fall) promises big changes for the Santa Barbara Police Department with the installment of a new Chief (Anthony Michael Hall) who doesn’t hire psychics.
