Samurai Jack - Episode VII: Jack and the Three Blind Archers TV review

Throwback Thursday takes us back to the adventures of the time-displaced samurai and his quest to make his way home. Noble sacrifice is a common theme in Samurai Jack, and in “Episode VII” Jack (Phil LaMarr) must decide between travelling home or freeing those trapped under the curse of Aku (Mako). Learning about the Well of Ozric, a portal with the ability to send the samurai home, Jack heads for the tower but finds the three archers more than enough to stop an entire army in its tracks. What hope does the samurai have?

The archers would return in Samurai Jack‘s final season as just one group whose lives were forever changed by the samurai’s sacrifice. Here Jack finds a way past the fearsome blind threesome relying solely on his hearing to guide him as well. The cutaway action scenes are terrific as always as Jack works his way to the temple, eventually turned the guards perfect aim on each other. Victorious, Jack is given the ability to have the well fulfill his wish but to do so would leave the three archers under the curse of Aku. Sacrificing his own happiness to free the warriors, Jack destroys the well and his journey continues.
