Scorpion - Dirty Seeds, Done Dirt Cheap television review

A mission to Greenland to fix world’s seed trust turns unexpectedly dangerous when Happy (Jadyn Wong), Sylvester (Ari Stidham), and Cabe (Robert Patrick) are all exposed to spores which begin to make them individually hallucinate their deepest fears (which turn out to be more cute than macabre). For Cabe this means getting stuck in a sitcom where the age difference between he and his latest lady friend becomes the stuff of canned laughter. For Sly it means being scared by a room full of hallucinatory chickens. And Happy finds herself back in the orphanage where no one wants to adopt her.

Despite the fact that three of the characters nearly die, and are saved by means that aren’t as well explained as I’d like, “Dirty Seeds, Done Dirt Cheap” proves to be one of the more fun episodes of the series. Happy and Cabe’s hallucinations alone are worth watching, as is Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas) injecting himself into his fiance’s delusion, but there are also some small touches worth noting including Sly learning from his experience and Paige (Katharine McPhee) getting a momentarily glimpse of what she may be afraid of in an episode that allows Walter (Elyes Gabel) to be just another member of the team while the other characters are highlighted.
