Supergirl - It's a Super Life television review

Supergirl celebrates its 100th episode with the return of Mr. Mxyzptlk as Thomas Lennon takes over the role and offers Kara (Melissa Benoist) the opportunity to fix her relationship with Lena (Katie McGrath) by revealing her secret to her friend turned enemy earlier in their relationship. Rather than one version of a different life shown, the It’s a Wonderful Life themed episode offers multiple alternate realities where Kara watches how events may have played out differently had she revealed herself to Lena earlier and earlier in their friendship.

The various realities offer the opportunity to bring back several characters to recreate various scenes from earlier seasons. Odette Annable returns as Reign, Chris Wood reprises his role as Mon-El, and Sam Witwer returns as Ben Lockwood. It also means the use of a less-than-convincing wig for Supegirl to try and pull off. Since the fracturing of their friendship, Supergirl has has been lugging around a large amount of guilt and “It’s a Super Life” helps alleviate that as our hero discovers there was no possible best time to reveal herself to Lena as each opportunity produces unforeseen consequences. Although I think her interaction with Lena could have been a bit less dickish, it’s not that Lena hasn’t earned a cold shoulder from the Maid of Might at this point.
