Superman & Lois - Fail Safe television review

With Smallville still reeling from the machinations of Morgan Edge (Adam Rayner), the Kent boys ditch some school for cute girls, Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) has a crisis of faith over hiding the details of Edge’s plans to keep her family’s secrets safe, and the Lang family continues to feel the backlash of their friends and neighbors who appear all too willing to lay the blame of recent events at their feet. “Fail Safe” is a mostly transitionary episode focusing on bringing the troubles of Smallville to light while getting its name from Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) suggesting Project 7334 should continue as the world needs protection from its greatest hero if something like this happens again (something his wife is less than pleased with).

In terms of big bads, we see a bit more of Edge’s past as he rots away in a Kryptonite cell and Leslie Larr (Stacey Farber) is quickly apprehended with minimal effort. While it’s a little puzzling just what happens, Edge’s actions with the the Eradicator have done something to him as the episode ends with his transformation and escape from the DOA. Obviously changed in a way that Kryptonite doesn’t seem to affect him (odd, for a Kryptonian), it appears his father’s plans for his son may have finally come to fruition. Only a week after besting his Kryptonian half-brother, it looks like Superman has his work cut out for him once more while Lois still battles balancing her journalistic integrity with keeping her family safe.
